About the Role
We are actively seeking a dedicated Occupational Health Nurse to join our team. As the Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the health and well-being of our workforce. This role is vital in promoting a healthy and safe working environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular health assessments and medical examinations for employees.
- Provide medical treatment and emergency care as necessary.
- Develop and implement occupational health and safety programs.
- Manage health records, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Offer guidance on health-related issues and preventive measures.
- Collaborate with safety officers to ensure a safe working environment.
- Participate in the company’s wellness initiatives.
- Utilize electronic health record systems and occupational health software for accurate data entry, reporting, and trend analysis.
- Prepare incident and health statistic reports using computer applications.
Qualifications and Experience
- Registered Nurse with specialized training in occupational health.
- Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Proficiency in English.
- Valid nursing license.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Computer skills-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experienced with electronic health record (EHR) or occupational health management systems.
- Emergency response- Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Ability to perform basic health data analysis, identify trends, and recommend preventive measures.
- Knowledge of health risk assessment methodologies and fitness-for-duty evaluations.
- Experience working with diverse, multicultural teams, with sensitivity to local Tanzanian contexts.
- Strong decision-making skills, especially when handling medical emergencies in a remote mine setting.
- Familiarity with Tanzanian occupational health legislation and mining industry health standards
